Главная » English version : Attention! Deceives you your own government and the media!

This information is from livejournal of user rupor_naroda (originally written in russian):

"I am alive! Thanks all for your support, it is now very important to all of us. The city is destroyed completely, as in Stalingrad, we fight for every building. While it's possible I will write further... But no promises, my cell phone is dying.

Attention! Deceives you your own government and the media!

Now Russian army is in outskirts of the republic (Ossetia). Mop-up operation is going in woods. We have captured 2 Georgian tanks and burnt a pair. It's a heavy night ahead! I do not know whether my sister and parents are alive. Before my eyes the father and the child were burnt in the car , but before that their heads were spliced, brains everywhere...

UPD 1 (09.08.2008, 06:30):

"We've prepared for defence. It is said that Saakashvili (georgian president) wants a revenge. Today georgians have killed my neighbour Janika and his father. Janika had 2 children, 1 y.o. daughter and 4 y.o. son. After combat I have found 6 men from my platoon dead! The others were gone. I can not find my friend, he participated in fights at village Pris and after fight has not contacted. Georgians are very inhuman. Today I saw them shooting the car with the baby. The father and the child were killed by a tank shot. They were burnt down in the car. Only the mother has survived . She was tearing her hair off screaming, asking god why she remained alive."

UPD 2 (09.08.2008, 08:00):

"At a city the fire started from artillery pieces! They say, Georgians wish to storm a city with infantry, we'll be meeting them."

UPD 3 (09.08.2008, 20:29):

"Georgians were storming the city all day long. Till this moment we manage to stop them. We've burnt some tanks. All day long artillery and tanks shooting is heard. A dilapidated city have been burnt to the ground. Now we're listening to a portable radio set. Our men stay in one of the closest villages. It is not clear yet, what will be next."

UPD 4 (09.08.2008, 21:43):

"We have lost many people. Many good guys are gone. But at least they stopped Georgian tanks. I will go to the bunker. Second half of a day I have spent in a cellar, after running from tanks in the morning. I have only machine gun with me. Nothing more left. I could hardly charge a phone, it's a big problem here, there is no power. There is no gas. There are no undamaged houses. Throw in the news, cos we're short of info! Communication hardly works."

Главная » English version : Truth Has Fallen and Taken Liberty With It

There was a time when the pen was mightier than the sword. That was a time when people believed in truth and regarded truth as an independent power and not as an auxiliary for government, class, race, ideological, personal, or financial interest.

Today Americans are ruled by propaganda. Americans have little regard for truth, little access to it, and little ability to recognize it.

Truth is an unwelcome entity. It is disturbing. It is off limits. Those who speak it run the risk of being branded “anti-American,” “anti-semite” or “conspiracy theorist.”

Главная » English version : WORLD WAR II in EUROPE-Quantified

The biggest ground war in human history took place in Europe from September, 1939 to May, 1945. It has been over 60 years since the war ended. World War II has not been quantified in any single source. Books listed in the Appendix are by American military historians, British, German, America and Russian authors. A declassified U.S. Army document is the source of information about weapons that the Russians themselves produced.

Главная » English version : NATO Expansion, Missile Deployments And Russia’s New Military Doctrine

Developments related to military and security matters in Europe and Asia have been numerous this month and condensed into less than a week of meetings, statements and initiatives on issues ranging from missile shield deployments to the unparalleled escalation of the world’s largest war and from a new security system for Europe to a new Russian military doctrine.

A full generation after the end of the Cold War and almost that long since the breakup of the Soviet Union, the past week’s events are evocative of another decade and another century. Twenty or more years ago war in Afghanistan and controversial missile placements in Europe were current news in a bipolar world.

Twenty years afterward, with no Soviet Union, no Warsaw Pact and a greatly diminished and truncated Russia, the United States and NATO have militarized Europe to an unprecedented degree – in fact subordinating almost the entire continent under a Washington-dominated military bloc – and have launched the most extensive combat offensive in South Asia in what is already the longest war in the world.

Re-emerging As an Emerging Market

Back in the spring of 1998, when Boris Yeltsin was still at Russia's helm, I led a group of global investors to Moscow to find out firsthand where the Russian economy was headed. My long career with the International Monetary Fund and on Wall Street had taken me to "emerging markets" throughout Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, and I thought I'd seen it all. Yet I still recall the shock I felt at a meeting in Russia's dingy Ministry of Finance, where I finally realized how a handful of young oligarchs were bringing Russia's economy to ruin in the pursuit of their own selfish interests, despite the supposed brilliance of Anatoly Chubais, Russia's economic czar at the time.

Главная » English version : The Russians are back! /Online Journal Contributing Writer

“With Russia it’s always like that,” writes contemporary Russia’s most read author, Viktor Pelevin. “You admire it and you cry, but when you look at what you admire up close, it can make you vomit.” That’s Pelevin, and others of the young generation. A mixture of compassion and fury. The rage of a young Russian against the post-Communist society that missed the curve and stuck the country in a repugnant swamp. But it’s also compassion for the Old Russia that he defends against superficial criticism and despite his violence he is solidly with its misery and its grandeur.

The ongoing financial meltdown is just the latest example of a disturbing trend that, to this adoptive American, threatens to put the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave on a par with Zimbabwe, Venezuela, and Equatorial Guinea.

Главная » English version : I survived the Georgian war. Here's what I saw.

In a speech before the United Nations last month, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili implored world leaders to set up an international investigation to find out the truth about the war in South Ossetia.

I couldn't agree more. But I think the results of an honest investigation would reveal a very different "truth" than what President Saakashvili claims.

I know this because I was in Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia, on Aug. 7 when Georgian troops marched into the city and killed my friends and neighbors. I huddled with my family in terror for three nights while Saakashvili's tanks and rockets destroyed hundreds of our homes, desecrated cemeteries, gutted schools and hospitals.

Georgian “democracy” owes more to Josef Stalin than Thomas Jefferson.

It was when we lifted up the filthy bedcovers that we saw the full extent of the gangrene. Half the man’s leg was eaten away, and he screamed in agony. The women around him wailed too. There was no heating except for a puny electric cooking ring, which glowed dimly in the half-light. There was also no hope: neither this man nor any of his fellow refugees who were housed (if that is the right word) in a derelict building somewhere in the Georgian countryside had seen a doctor for months. Their food deliveries were sporadic. He would die within a matter of weeks.

Get ready, world. Managed mass democracy and market capitalism are coming. It'll be good for you. We promise

Don't you dream of the day when Iraqis, South Ossetians or whoever - Africans? - can have the plenitude of blessings that democracy brings? I know I do. I have a dream that one day international media conglomerates will poll Iraqis in Anbar province on the latest "gaffe" of Nouri al-Maliki. Won't that be liberating? I dream of a Fox News affiliate in the Caucuses that informs the South Ossetians on what South Ossetians think of Mikhail Sakashvilli's neckwear choices. I wake up thinking: If these poor and variously swarthy mouth-breathers could get just a taste of Sarah Palin's Lipstickgate, they would understand the inferiority of totalitarianism.
